OH & WV Food Hub Network educational outings and peer learning.
The Ohio and West Virginia Food Hub Network supports new and emerging food hubs by providing educational programming, resource linkages, and a forum for peer exchange to address barriers that food hubs face when developing wholesale or institutional markets. The Center hosts peer meetings and educational webinars for network participants and disseminates information through an email listserv to increase participants’ awareness of resources. Staff members serve on the Ohio State University Extension Direct Agricultural Marketing Team to assist Food Hub Network members create a resilient local food supply chain and establish profitable marketing channels for goods.
Staff members serve on the Ohio Food Policy Network Governance Committee to assist Food Hub Network Members in connecting with food system stakeholders working toward a more resilient local food supply chain.
Center staff collaborate with the Ohio State University Extension Fruit and Vegetable Safety team (OFVST), connecting food producers, hubs and food businesses with University food safety specialists, education and food safety planning resources.
