Learn about financing a cooperative with Shobna Dhewant with Capital Impact Partners. Whether you’re a new cooperative or looking to expand, this online session will provide insights to help navigate the financial landscape.

Capital Impact Partners, a non-profit organization, provides credit and financial services to underserved markets and populations in the United States. They provide financing to individuals, organizations, and companies to build new businesses or expand existing facilities that increase access to services for populations made up primarily of low to moderate income residents.

This online learning program is presented as part of the CFAES Center for Cooperatives Appalachia Cooperates Initiative, a learning and peer-exchange network connecting cooperative, community, business, and economic developers and advocates in Central Appalachia to resources about the cooperative business model.

Shobna is currently the Director of National Underwriting at Capital Impact Partners, a nationwide Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) specializing in supporting cooperatives and employee-owned small businesses through innovative financial solutions. In her role, Shobna reviews and approves loans up to $4 million, while ensuring compliance with risk appetite, credit policy, and underwriting guidelines

Shobna has more than 25 years experience in community development finance through her work in CDFIs, banks, social finance funds, and fintechs. She has provided financing structures to food, agricultural, purchasing, and housing coops across the US and Canada. She holds a Masters in Business Economics from Golden Gate University.
